In the Kitchen

A Welcoming Recipe

Hey, look at you, you made over to my new section! Welcome!

I will slowly be adding recipe's in this section from really good cook books that I'm looking into. Eventually, I would like to update this section regularly, but piano, piano.

The first book is called Ani's Raw Food Desserts with 85 recipe's that don't require cooking, baking, or dairy products! It's full organic, and yummy. I promise.

I know, I sound like I'm going organic crazy, but I actually saw this book at my friend Sonia's house last week and was instantly intrigued by the lack of traditional cooking equipment.

After all the chitter-chatter back and forth about how amazing this recipe book was, I had to buy it! But not before she gave me a taste of what to expect.

She made me a recipe that inspired her from the cookbook that I would like to share with you just for coming to this page. I tried it on my own at home and it literally took 5 minutes to prepare. My parents were all over them like bees on honey, and my work buddies were fighting over who gets the last piece. Not to mention my mother called me yesterday afternoon to get the recipe so she could make them again! I'm just saying. They're worth the try.

Quick Question: If we're not actually cooking or baking anything, is this still considered a cookbook? Anyone else confused about this? No? Okay, moving along then.

This recipe is called Sonia's Coco for Cacao Puffs and it goes a little something like this...

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups raw, unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup agave syrup (you can find this at IGA, Metro, or any health food store)
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil (slightly melted, do NOT cook)- you can use regular oil if you don't want to buy coconut oil.

And now for the preparation; this is the tough part, you ready?

  • Mix all ingredients together, well.
  • With a small scooper, scoop out the mixture and place on tray
  • Repeat step 2 until you run out of mixture (should make 10-15 pieces)
  • Place tray in freezer for 30 minutes
  •
  • After 30 minutes, remove them from freezer and enjoy*
*Store in fridge or freezer.
